UUH OUTREACH a service to the Northwest community POSITION DESCRIPTION VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR A. Identification Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator Reports to: Executive Director B. Key Objective The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, orients, places, and supervises volunteers and provides direction,  coordination, and consultation for all volunteer functionwithin the agency. This 15 hour per week position requires evening and weekend availability. C. Responsibilities: Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service Develop, promote, and maintain volunteer opportunities within the agency Establish agency orientation, training and background check standards for volunteer positions Maintain Volunteer Service Descriptions for each volunteer assignment Host and attend recruiting events within the community Builds partnerships and relationships within the community to develop ongoing volunteer availability Develop and conduct volunteer orientation and training Recruit, interview and match applicants for volunteer assignments Schedule all volunteer activity Oversee volunteer placements Obtain feedback from clients as appropriate Maintain confidentiality of all client information Maintain accurate records of volunteer service, including hours worked Provide timely and accurate statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation Evaluate all aspects of volunteer program to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement changes as  appropriate Perform other duties as assigned D. Physical Requirements Ability to travel independently to recruit and match volunteers with clients, including visits to clients’ homes. Ability to hear and see or to use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately to assure that position requirements are fully met.  Ability to traverse buildings and climb and descend stairs. Ability to lift food bags and transport materials to volunteer sessions as needed. E. Personal Requirements Positive, enthusiastic attitude. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English. Sound judgment, good problem solving skills, ability to establish rapport with elderly persons and various volunteers. Ability to communicate appropriately with persons experiencing physical, cognitive, and/or sensory deficits. Ability to work independently. Ability to develop and deliver engaging presentations. Effective teamwork skills. Sense of humor a plus. F. Education Bachelor’s degree preferred. G. Experience Experience in working with older adults and with volunteers preferred. H. Working Conditions Clean, well-lighted building, temperature controlled environment, smoke free.  Travel using own vehicle to various neighborhoods and homes of older adults in Germantown, Mount Airy, West Oak Lane, East Falls, and Chestnut Hill required. Travel to various sites, including congregations, to recruit and train volunteers required.  I. Other Requirements Own car, valid driver’s license and current auto insurance. Technical ability to use current and adapt to new software and databases, including Microsoft Office Suite.
